Sugar Dumplin Canadian Premiere Frequently asked questions.
What is the location?
We’ll be at The Royal Cinema located in downtown Toronto (608 College St, Toronto, ON M6G 1B4). A true gem fi di culture. If you pass a patty shop on the way in, you’re probably heading the right way.
What time do the doors open?
Doors open at 4:00 PM sharp. Come early, come pretty, and bring good energy!
When does the event start?
The film starts at 5:00 PM. Not “Caribbean time,” real time. Don’t miss the first frame.
Where is the best place to park?
There’s street parking nearby and several paid lots around College Street. Our advice? Carpool if yuh can or take transit, it’s easier than hunting for a downtown spot in heels.

Will there be food/drinks?
You’ll have to hold yuh belly ‘til after the screening. Just kidding. The Royal will have their concessions open where you can buy popcorn, drinks, and sweets. No jerk chicken in the cinema, please (yes, we know somebody was thinking it 😅).
What will be screened?
Two award-winning short films A Letter From The Fathers & of course Sugar Dumplin’, starring Oliver Samuels and Chantel Riley.
Is there VIP seating?
This event is vibes only, not velvet rope. It’s first come, best seat. So if yuh want front row blessings, come early and claim your spot.
Will there be merchandise available for purchase?
Yes sah! We’ll have official Sugar Dumplin’ merch available.
Can I take pictures of the films?
No sah! Please keep all filming, snapping, and TikToking outside the theatre during the screening. But feel free to grab selfies at the backdrop, step & repeat, or Q&A after. We want yuh to flex responsibly.
How long is the entire event?
Between two amazing films, panel discussions, and meet & greets, the full experience should run about 2.5 to 3 hours total. After that—vibes 'til they kick us out, or the music stops... whichever comes first. 😎
What is the dress code?
Come clean, come Caribbean-chic, come how yuh feel! Whether you roll up in linen, denim, or Sunday best, just bring your full self and good energy.
What happens if I’m late? Can I still get in?
Doors will stay open until we begin our first film. Once the screening starts, nobody will be allowed in until the film concludes and a break is announced.
We love you, but we also love clean audio, no distractions, and giving everyone the best cinematic experience possible. So come early, grab your seat, and don’t make us lock you out like Granny when you come home late from party!
